How crucial is it for the teacher to showcase impeccable alignment in the practicum video?

While it's essential to understand that everyone's body is unique and not all poses will look or feel the same for everyone, as a teacher, demonstrating proper alignment in your practicum video is crucial.

Here are some recommendations:

  1. If there are certain poses that you're unable to execute with the right alignment due to injury or anatomical differences, consider delaying your practicum until you can exhibit the postures correctly.
  2. Opt for poses that you can confidently demonstrate with the right alignment for your practicum. Teach those that you're proficient in, and gradually expand as your alignment improves in other poses.
  3. If there's a particular pose you're passionate about teaching but cannot demonstrate with perfect alignment, you can still include it. In such cases, ensure you verbalize the correct alignment cues while pointing out and explaining any deviations in your demonstration. However, limit this approach to a maximum of one or two poses and make sure your explanations are concise and clear.
  4. Ultimately, it's most beneficial to teach poses in which you feel both comfortable and confident, ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the practice for your students.
