For the practicum, should we only record ourselves instructing, or do we also need to include students in the recording?

While it's acceptable to have students participating in the practicum with you, it is not necessary. It's crucial that the teacher remains the focal point of the video. The evaluator needs to see the teacher's hands, feet, and head consistently, as your demonstration and posture cues are what they will be assessing. If you decide to incorporate students in your video, ensure they don't obstruct the view of you, the instructor.

Most submissions we evaluate typically showcase just the teacher on their mat. Keeping in mind that this could potentially be your inaugural full class or your initial online instruction, it might be easier to concentrate without managing students. However, the prospect of recording might seem daunting, so having supportive friends or family participate might alleviate some nervousness.

Ultimately, decide what feels right for you. The key focus of this practicum is your teaching ability. Aim for simplicity, stay calm, and know we're here to back you up.
